Milkweed Bugs, Thursday, April 16, 2020

It has been three days since my last observation.

  • Mini-habitat #1 One of the adults was on the cotton. In the picture, you can see the adult bug and some of the clutches that have not yet hatched. (See photo)

  • Mini-habitat #2 They nymphs continue to grow. (See photo)

  • Mini-habitat #4 The two very red clutches hatched since my last observation. There are a great many nymphs in the bag now. (See photos)

  • Mini-habitat #5 I had a hard time finding the adults in this habitat today. There are lots of nymphs and at least one clutch that is very red. In the photo you can see at least
only nymph at the top of the image and a red clutch near the bottom.

  • Mini-habitat #7 One of the adults does not seem to be moving. The other adult is on the food bag.

  • Mini-habitat - Extras -Two adults were mating. In the picture you can see that and also a large nymph. I think this is the largest nymph in all the habitats. (See picture

I will make more observations to come on Sunday this week…watch your email for a notification of when I post.

Now, you can finish this week’s work assignment. Don’t forget to click the “turn-in” button when you are done.
